Thoroughly Enjoyed Dinner At Prego Last Evening On The Ship✔ Anothererrific Day At Sea ✔
NOTE: Today is Friday, April 6 ships time. Since we will be crossing the dateline, we will also get another Friday, April 6 tomorrow. This will put us on the same date as the majority of people keeping up with this blog from places including North America and Europe. As we continue to move the clock forward we will also be getting closer to the time of those of you from North America.
Although we dined in Prego last evening, these are the dinner menus from the Crystal Dining Room.
We dined last evening with Food and Beverage Manager Victor Conceicao. We have known Victor for several years and really appreciate all he does to make sailing with Crystal Cruises so very special. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner with Victor and that included both the conversation as well as the wonderful cuisine and service we experienced last evening.
Once again we had Costa as our waiter and he took great care of us.
We began our meal with salads. Keith had his standing order salad and Anne Marie enjoyed the Caesar Salad.
There were two additional entree items on the menu. Since we are at sea for several days it was not possible to offer an additional seafood entree as they prefer using fresh seafood for these entrees.
We still ordered one of the two additional entrees which was a Calizone with assorted seafood including lobster, clams and mussels. It was absolutely delicious as it was very tasty and that included both the crust and the items inside of the Calizone from the sauce to the seafood items.
The head chef of Prego , Christian, came to our table to see what we thought about it and we told him how wonderful it was. This was the first time it was available on the cruise and possibly the first time its been offered before. It was a wow!
Anne Marie had a small vanilla Gelato for dessert and Keith had a fruit plate.
Prego was busier than it had been the past couple of nights but service levels remained very high.
Before going to bed we set the clocks forward another hour. Because we set the clocks forward, we passed on the evening show. We only have a couple more of these time changes to go. It will be great when we don't have to forward the clock but we knew this would happen and had written about it during the first half of the cruise when we were benefiting from moving the clock backwards.
We slept very well last evening. Before we went to sleep the seas had already become less choppy than they were for most of the day.
Keith woke up early to begin another day in the Fitness Center. The good news is that as he made his way up the hallway of our deck and then began to walk up the three flights of steps to the Fitness Center he knew that the seas were significantly better than the day before and that the Fitness Center would be open. He worked out alone for the entire time with the exception of the last five minutes when the manager of the stores on board the ship arrived to begin his workout. With the movement of the clocks forward by one hour and guests not knowing how the weather would be like, the regulars were not there.
Afterwards, it was back to the Lido Cafe for some coffee. It was good that things were back to normal. Due to the weather situation the Lido Cafe was closed at around 8:30 AM yesterday and the hours for breakfast were extended in the Crystal Dining Room to accommodate the closure of the Lido Deck. We applaud this approach as safety is the number one priority on board the ship.
Anne Marie worked out before breakfast and then we enjoyed breakfast our room as we watched the Daily Morning Show. Rick Spath noted that we will be the first cruise ship to visit the various Alaska Ports Of Call this year. He noted that the scenery should be breathtaking with all of the snow that Alaska has received this year. Keith did call in one time to correctly answer one of the trivia questions.
During Captain Glenn's morning talk from the bridge he noted that he was trying to keep the ship in a calm spot. He noted that during the course of the day that the winds would pick up and that in the evening and into the night that it would likely be windy with somewhat rough seas. He reminded everyone to use caution around the ship. The temperature was cooler than yesterday and was at around 50 degrees fahrenheit during the Captain's talk.
Captain Glenn also shared his thought for the day which went as follows.
"A journey is best measured in friends rather than in miles."
We spoke with Crystal Society Hostess, Jaque Brown, for awhile. Later, we spoke with Rabbi Morrie about tomorrows Passover Service which we have signed up for.
There were two lectures in the morning. The first one was by Professor D. Blanche Iliff and Dr. Charles H. Iliff who spoke about Alaska's Coastline. Afterwards, Destination Lecturer Ken Rees spoke about Alaska and it being the last frontier.
At Noon it was time for Team Trivia. Our team still remains two behind the team in first place.
For lunch we enjoyed Salad Entrees.
In the afternoon Anne Marie worked out and she did some reading and writing.
Keith also wrote and read and met up with friend Bob.
He also watched one of the lectures that was rebroadcast on the television which he didn't see live.
Later today we will attend a 5:00 PM Matinee of the Production Show Across The Pond which feature songs from the 1960's and 1970's from many of the British Groups and Solo Artists who won the hearts of many Americans. This includes our own heart as The Beatles are one of those groups that we enjoyed and whose music we enjoy even today.
We plan to dine in the Crystal Dining Room.
After dinner we will attend a cocktail party for all cruisers. Guests were encouraged to wear items (could be clothing or jewelry or some other related item) that they have purchased sometime during the World Cruise.
