Thoroughly Enjoyed Last Evening On The Ship✔ Terrific Day At Sea ✔
Before dinner last evening we went to the Crystal Cove. Since there was one Captains Welcome Reception at 7:45 PM rather than two receptions given that there is only a little over 500 guests on the ship, complimentary drinks were served in several lounges. They were served in these lounges from 5:15 PM to 8:30 PM.
We decided to sit at the Crystal Cove Lounge since this one is located closest to the Crystal Dining Room where we would be dining last evening. The lounge was busier than normal and that just made things even more social in the lounge.
Each evening along with before dinner drinks, there are some Lido Deck Stewards assisting in those lounges that are open and they also walk around with some canapes for guests to enjoy with their drinks. They change each evening and this is what was being served last evening.
On the second voyage following this last segment of the World Cruise which sails from New York City to Dover, England Crystal Cruises has expanded their inclusive offerings which will include complimentary wines and spirits so this gave guests somewhat of a feel for what that will be like.
We happened to run into our Butler, Rao so we chatted with him for a few minutes.

As we mentioned, last evening we dined in the Crystal Dining Room. These were the menus and the theme was the Captain's Gala Menu and the attire for the evening was Formal.
We dined with World Cruise Hostess Elise Ivy and her boyfriend Kinsey who boarded the ship in China and will be on board until we reach Ketchikan, Alaska. We had a wonderful time with Elise and Kinsey. We enjoyed a wonderful conversation with them and it was very nice to get to know Kinsey.
The cuisine was terrific as was the service. Two complimentary wines were provided. This included a white wine which was a Sauvignon Blanc and a red wine which was a Chianti. We found the wines to be quite good.
We all ordered four courses.
For our first course Keith enjoyed Caviar and Anne Marie had the Mushroom Soup.
We each had salads for our second course. Anne Marie had the Captain's Salad and Keith had his standing order salad.
For our third course we each had Anne Marie's favorite which was the Broiled Fresh Maine Lobster. The lobster was cooked to perfection as it was very tasty and had a very pleasing texture which made it so very nice to enjoy.
Anne Marie had the Sugar Free Coffee Ricotta Custard for dessert and Keith had mixed berries.
We could have talked all night but we concluded our dinner in-time so that we could attend the Captain's Welcome Reception which was held at the Palm Court.
During his talk Captain Glenn noted the number of guests on board the ship along with the number of crew and there are more crew than guests on this cruise.
We made our way over to the section by the bar but we didn't drink anything nor try to sit down. Rather we chatted with with several Officers and Senior Crew Members, as well as several guests including friends Bob and Glo.
This was our seventh and final Captain's Welcome Reception on this journey.
Last evening marked a special moment as it was the final time that the Production Show My Favorite Things will be performed on board the Crystal Serenity. This show will be "retired" and a new show will be featured on the voyage following the World Cruise which sails the Panama Canal and begins in San Pedro (Los Angeles) and ends in New York City.
We slept very well last evening as we continue to sail to our next port of call in Alaska. The seas were relatively calm but you can feel the gentle rocking of the ship. Keith slept through the night and looked up at the clock just a few minutes before it was time for him to get up.
Keith awoke first and worked out in the Fitness Center. Fellow guest Brian was already working out when Keith arrived. Shortly before Keith's workout ended, the Pilates Instructor began her workout on one of the Elliptical Machines. She just joined the ship in Osaka and she is still jet lagged so she noted that she is waking up quite early in the morning but going to sleep after dinner. On top of this she will have to deal with forwarding the clock several times on this segment. The store manager also began his workout and Keith chatted with both of them for awhile.
A little while after Keith returned to the room, it was Anne Marie's turn to workout. She worked out in the Fitness Center rather than the Promenade Deck.
Rao brought us breakfast at 8:00 AM and we enjoyed breakfast as we watched the daily morning show hosted by World Cruise Hostess Elise Ivy and Cruise Director Rick Spath. On each show they show video clips from the previous day(s) and the closing footage from the video showed Elise, Kinsey and the two of us walking into the Crystal Dining Room last evening as we were waving our hands back and forth. Sorry, we couldn't get a good photo but thought we would post this one anyway.
There were lots of activities on today's schedule.
The morning was filled with many fitness activities including morning walk on the promenade deck with the Fitness Directors, along with a Nordic Walking Program. Three different Pilates Classes are offered given the popularity of this program. They use the actual Pilates Machines. There was also Yoga,and a Sit To Be Fit Class. On top of this there were various classes including one on photo finishing techniques on the computer, beginners, intermediate and advanced bridge classes, golf, spanish and even napkin folding.
There was one lecture in the morning which featured Dr Louis Rene Beres who spoke about War, Law and Justice in World Policitcs.
For those following NCAA Basketball, Crystal Cruises made arrangements to broadcast the Basketball Finals live for us and that was shown on a big screen in the Hollywood Theater.
On top of this the crew had a weekly crew fire and lifeboat drill.
At Noon we attended the second Team Trivia game of this final segment of the World Cruise. Today, we only answered eight of fifteen questions correctly. What a difference a day makes.
As we do pretty much each and everyday, we both enjoyed Salad Entrees for lunch.
In the afternoon, Special Interest Lecturer Joe Kess spoke about The Russian Far east and that included information about their port cities on the Pacific Coast which are Vladivostok and Petropavlovsk.
The afternoon featured an array of other activities including Paddle Tennis open play, computer classes, a dance class, a music class, a needlepoint beginners class, a golf clinic, memoir writing, various fitness classes, including a late afternoon indoor cycling class, an art class and other programs including a practice session for the World Cruise Choir. An afternoon movie was also shown on the big screen in the Hollywood Theater.
Keith played Paddle Tennis in the afternoon. It was cooler and windier than yesterday. Anne Marie walked for an hour.
This evening we will be dining at Prego with two special guests.
Before dinner, we will be attending a World Cruise Block Party.
